Sun Bursts in Pacific Spirit Park (April)

The Pacific Spirit Park (just across the street) has spots of intense light and areas which are more obscure.  The eye can discern far more gradations of intensity of light than can a digital sensor, and I am unwilling to return to the labours required for colour film.  I am starting to explore points of light as they pierce the forest's shadows.

Pacific Spirit Regional Park, Vancouver

As I slowly regain strength, I find I can photograph things close at hand.  These photos show the small part of the Pacific Spirit Regional Park which is just across the road, perhaps a mere 60 steps from our front door.  This is the day we had been scheduled to land in Paris for our annual five-week visit.  Cancer has a way of changing such plans.  For now, the forest is my cathedral.

Sword Fern Trail, Pacific Spirit Park, Vancouver

Yesterday I took my last photo walk for possibly the coming month or more.  Someone mentioned that Sword Fern Trail in the Pacific Spirit Regional Park was interesting.  It is a long trail (see the map, Trail 24 which is the dotted line running N-S on the lower left part of the park in orange).  The ferns are stretching their fronds, the delicate purple salmon berry blossoms are starting to appear, several young skunk cabbages looked quite vigorous, and the spiders are out and about.  I have included a few people in photos, partly to give a sense of the size of these second-growth trees.
